Work Threads

Manifesto

Work happens with people, not in systems.

Hover underlined words for context

In process-heavy organizations, the system of record is disconnected from the system of work. Engineers lose hours to meetings, ticket writing, and chasing context across tools, while small but important work stalls waiting for ceremony.

Work isn’t encapsulated. It’s scattered across email, chat, boards, and status calls.

A Work Thread is the unit of work. Tickets and other artifacts are exports — when you need them, not the starting point.

Most tools are system-focused. We are people-focused. Work starts with who belongs in the room and what needs to happen next — not with a blank ticket form.

You pull in people on a need-to-know basis. Status, tasks, and decisions live where people already act. You keep total control over what leaves the thread: when something must land in GitLab, email, payroll, or any other system, you promote it on your terms. Integrations are adapters, not the boss.

That cuts coordination overhead, lowers the activation energy for real problems, and preserves institutional memory without copy/paste. When governance truly matters, you create a governed artifact instead of pretending process doesn’t exist.

Success is simple: people spend less time feeding systems, and more time finishing work — without losing traceability.
